The third of four siblings, Rhonda has had a love for horses her whole life, but growing up in a small town she was unable to have her own. After spending four busy years at university to become an engineer she finally had the means to purchase her first horse.

Shortly after purchasing Joker, a Quarter Horse/Draft Horse cross, in 2007 she and her sister Laura bought a farm together with the plans to grow their herd of large horses.

In 2011 the first two donkeys, Apple Jack and Chocolate Puddin’, came to live on the farm and she fell in love with the long ears.

In 2017 Rhonda left engineering to pursue her desire to trim horse hooves for a living. Her job grew quickly and people started recommending her to people with foundered and laminitic minis.

In 2018 she welcomed Pokey, her first mini horse, onto the farm so that she could care for his laminitic feet. From there her and her sister decided to move forward with the dream to start a sanctuary for the littlest equines.

Now she spends her time between looking after her daughter, writing and publishing her books, trimming hooves and taking care of all the animals on the farm.

Laura grew up in a small town with her three siblings and parents. She always dreamed of having horses but living in a small town doesn’t lend itself to following that dream.

When she was in her mid-twenties her sister Rhonda asked Laura to join her in buying a farm and some horses. Laura agreed and the two started working to fence off pasture and seed the quarter section to hay land.

In 2014 Laura decided to go back to school and become a Certified Veterinary Assistant, but after breaking her leg she was forced to give up working on cement. This prompted her to start her own business hand making dog and cat accessories.

Once Rhonda left engineering to pursue work as a hoof trimmer, Laura joined her as her driver from job to job. It was while driving to a client’s that the two decided it was time to start their sanctuary for the littlest equines. It was a dream they’d been contemplating since getting their first two donkeys in 2011.

Now she spends her time driving her sister from job to job, working on pet products, and looking after all the animals on the farm.
